Same as video online counseling: first visit is typically face to face.
I do not offer services in treating certain mental health conditions. Certain conditions need more resources than I have here in my office and are beyond my area of expertise. Please read policy about conditions I do not treat.
Providing referrals, working with other healthcare providers, making recommendations and offering resources are inherent in the counseling therapy offered here. These are made when therapeutically needed and with your permission.
Your Safety and Privacy
Safety and privacy are central to the work of any counselor and psychotherapist. People who hurt need a safe environment in order to return to health and mental wellness. A safe space where what is said is private and confidential is a necessity. And your privacy is vital. It is so vital that it's covered by state and federal law, except in isolated cases. Those isolated cases are these exceptions: if someone wants to harm you or you wish to harm another person(s) or you are a threat to your own self. My explanation is by no means
comprehensive. You'll find a lot more details about your privacy and
exceptions to your confidential health information at these websites. These are links to the law and your rights in the States of Connecticut, Maryland and Virginia where I practice and with the federal government at the Department of Health and Human Services. |

Of course, there’s no guarantee as to what will happen in psychotherapy and counseling. Everyone is different. Everyone’s journey is unique. As a counselor, I sometimes notice common denominators among some clients who are responsible and dedicated to doing their inner and outer mind-body work.
